• Take a minute to write an introduction that is short, sweet, and to the point.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

About Me

Welcome to my portfolio!
My name is Becca Binns, and I’m an interior design student based in Houston, TX. I’m very passionate about interior design, and I love to create beautiful spaces that make a positive impact

Why I Chose Interior Design

Ever since I was young, I’ve been drawn to looking at the small details around me and finding joy in drawing. I chose to pursue a career in interior design because it allows me to merge artistry with problem-solving, finding innovative solutions to optimize space and create atmospheres that resonate with people.

I believe that interior design should foster sustainability and mindfulness. It should promote responsible design practices that minimize environmental impact while maximizing beauty and functionality, and I’m excited to be a part of it.

What I Learned

Throughout my academic journey, I’ve had the opportunity to learn how to use software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit to create digital models, renderings, and technical drawings.

I’ve also been able to study local building codes, regulations, and standards related to interior design to ensure that my designs comply with safety, accessibility, and environmental requirements. I’ve taken courses on materials used in interior design, such as fabrics, flooring, wall coverings, and furniture. Finally, with a growing emphasis on sustainability, I have learned about eco-friendly design principles, renewable materials, energy-efficient systems, and green building practices.

How I Apply What I’ve Learned

Throughout my studies, I’ve applied my skills in AutoCAD and SketchUp to create digital models and technical drawings, helping me visualize and communicate designs clearly. I’ve incorporated local building codes and regulations into my projects, ensuring compliance with safety and accessibility standards, such as designing layouts that are user-friendly and energy-efficient.

I’ve also applied my knowledge of materials, selecting fabrics, flooring, and furniture that balance aesthetics with durability. For example, I choose easy-to-maintain materials for high-traffic areas while enhancing the overall design.

Sustainability plays a central role in my work. I integrate eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient systems, creating spaces that are both stylish and environmentally conscious. Through these hands-on applications, I continue to refine my skills and build a deeper understanding of how to bring my design ideas to life while maintaining functionality, safety, and sustainability.
